HOPE House Structured Living
Optional Recovery Housing & Extended Care Integration
Overview
Description
Hope House Structured Living is an optional, recovery-oriented housing component designed to support individuals participating in intensive outpatient or extended recovery programming. The model provides a stable, structured, and accountable living environment that reinforces clinical gains while promoting independence, responsibility, and long-term community reintegration.
Hope House is not a clinical treatment program; rather, it functions as a recovery support environment that aligns with evidence-based practices and complements formal treatment services.
Purpose & Role in the Continuum of Care
Hope House Structured Living serves individuals who benefit from:
• Increased structure outside of clinical hours
• Accountability and routine during early or transitional recovery
• A substance-free, recovery-centered living environment
• Peer-supported integration of recovery principles into daily life
The program is intentionally designed to reduce relapse risk, improve treatment retention, and strengthen recovery capital during and following formal programming.
Core Housing Model
Structured Environment
Residents participate in a clearly defined daily and weekly structure that promotes stability and consistency. Expectations are transparent and uniformly enforced, emphasizing personal responsibility rather than punitive control.
Key elements include:
• Curfews and house accountability standards
• Required participation in recovery-supportive activities
• Employment, education, or treatment engagement expectations
• House responsibilities that reinforce ownership and contribution
Recovery-Focused Group Engagement
Twice-Weekly Recovery Meetings
Residents participate in two structured recovery-focused group sessions per week, facilitated by trained staff or credentialed recovery professionals.
Group Topics Include:
• Personal responsibility and accountability
• Emotional regulation and stress tolerance
• Relapse prevention and craving management
• Identity development in recovery
• Communication, boundaries, and conflict resolution
• Goal-setting and life-skills integration
• Community engagement and service orientation
These sessions are designed to reinforce prefrontal cortex engagement through reflection, discussion, problem-solving, and application, supporting neurological and behavioral recovery.
Peer Accountability & Community Culture
Hope House emphasizes a peer-supported recovery culture, where residents are encouraged to model healthy behavior, support one another, and participate actively in maintaining a safe and recovery-oriented environment.
Peer accountability is structured, supervised, and intentional, never informal or exploitative, ensuring alignment with ethical and professional standards.
Integration With Clinical & Recovery Services
When residents are concurrently enrolled in outpatient treatment or recovery programming:
• Housing staff coordinate with treatment teams as appropriate
• Expectations align with treatment goals and recovery plans
• Structure supports, rather than duplicates, clinical services
This integrated approach ensures continuity of care while preserving appropriate role boundaries between housing and treatment services.
Outcomes & Impact
Hope House Structured Living is designed to support:
• Increased treatment retention and completion
• Reduced relapse and recidivism risk
• Improved employment and life-skills stability
• Strengthened recovery identity and autonomy
• Successful transition to independent living
Length of Stay
Length of stay is individualized based on recovery progress, treatment engagement, and readiness for transition. The model supports graduated independence, rather than fixed timelines.
Ethical & Operational Standards
Hope House Structured Living operates in alignment with:
• Recovery-oriented systems of care (ROSC) principles
• Ethical peer support practices
• Trauma-informed environmental standards
• Clear separation between housing and clinical decision-making
Residents maintain autonomy and informed consent at all times.
